I wanted to use this blog as an opportunity to journal about travels that I hope to do one day. While I had the opportunity to go to London a few months ago, it doesn’t look like I will be traveling anytime soon due to a number of reasons. However, I still want to write about places I would like to go and what I hope to see in the next few years. So every once in a while, I’m gonna put out in the universe places I want to go in the hopes of making it happen. To start, I’m gonna start in the U.S. It is kind of crazy that I have lived in the U.S. for about 5 years but still haven’t done a lot of traveling around the country even though it is fairly easy.
- New Orleans. By far, this is the one place in the U.S. that I have to absolutely see in the next few years. New Orleans has one of the richest cultures of any city in the U.S. and I have to experience it for myself. You see the craziness of Mardi Gras and the insanity of the party. Don’t get me wrong, that would be an opportunity of a lifetime but I would love to see it not in the middle of it. The Big Easy has amazing night life and culture and such a rich history. I’ve always wanted to stay in the French Quarter eating beignets from Cafe du Monde and walk around listening to the jazz of the city. It sounds like it may be silly but NOLA has a culture that I need to experience. The people, the city, the history. This is by far the one place in the states that I have to go.
- New York City. Okay, I’ve been to NYC before about 10 years ago or so. There is this hype of NYC being the greatest city in the world and one that is always hustling and bustling. And don’t get me wrong, it is. But it’s loud and crowded but it is one of the most magical places in the country. There is so much to see that there is no way that you can see it all in one trip. As I’ve grown older, I would like to go back to experience the city in a new view. Broadway shows, walking in Central Park, eating at some of the best places in the world. Music all around you and some of the best shopping. My dream is to experience NYC in the winter to see the snow and Rockefeller Center and ice skate. I promise you that I will definitely be back in the big apple soon.
- San Francisco. Again, I have been to San Fran before but it’s been almost 15 years I’m guessing. I have very vague memories of it when my parents remind me of times up in NorCal. While it can get pretty cold up there, it is such a cool city. Just the way the city is designed is unique in itself, it seems like it could be such an awesome place to possibly live. I can be by the ocean without dealing with the beach people that I’m never a big fan of in SoCal. Watching the seals make noise at Fisherman’s Wharf and eating chocolate from Ghiradelli Square. San Francisco is one of those places full of culture and history.
As you can see, I’m in a place in my life where I love to experience the culture of the city. When in London, I learned to appreciate the small things that make the city unique. What I love to see in these cities is not rushing to see all of the sites all at once. Take my time, walk through and see things in ways that I couldn’t before.
If you know of awesome places that I need to put on my travel list, definitely let me know!
